This shortcut allows you to choose a new foreground color from within the image (and the color for the text you are about to create) before entering the Type dialog box and without having to switch tools first. This shortcut works with the Vertical Type tool as well. In Photoshop 7, Option- or Alt-clicking with the Type tool allows you to numerically specify the dimensions of a paragraph text container.
