About the Author


Roger Sessions is one of the world's leading experts in enterprise software architectures. He has extensive experience with Microsoft's .NET, OMG's CORBA, and Sun's J2EE platforms. He has written six books and dozens of articles, and he is a popular keynote speaker at conferences on enterprise software systems. He writes and publishes the ObjectWatch Newsletter , a widely read, highly regarded, and often hotly debated newsletter on high-end software technologies. His last book, COM+ and the Battle for the Middle Tier , published by John Wiley & Sons, compared and contrasted Microsoft's COM+ to Sun's EJB technologies.

From 1990 to 1995 Roger Sessions worked at IBM on the CORBA effort. He spent a year as a lead architect for the CORBA persistence service and four years as the lead architect for the object persistence portion of the IBM implementation of CORBA. His third book, Object Persistence: Beyond Object-Oriented Databases , was about the CORBA Persistence Service.

Roger Sessions started ObjectWatch, Inc., in 1995. His vision was to build a company dedicated to master's classes for enterprise software architects . ObjectWatch now has a worldwide reputation for its expertise in teaching how to build high-caliber enterprise systems. More than 50,000 people have attended his workshops in more than 30 countries .
