Part FIVE: Systems Management

 < Day Day Up >

One of HP's long-standing differentiating benefits has been its strength in server and system management technologies. Part 5 provides the information that an Accredited Integration Specialist needs to know about these technologies.

Here is an overview of the chapters in Part 5.

Chapter 16 Introduction to HP Systems Management

Chapter 16 provides an introduction to the technologies involved in HP systems management, including systems management agents, management applications, and management platforms.

HP Insight Management agents are a particular focus of Chapter 16, because they enable well-known HP server differentiating features, including HP Prefailure Warranty and Automatic Server Recovery.

Chapter 17 HP Lights-Out Management Technologies

A second layer of HP systems management is comprised of the HP Lights-Out management technologies, including Integrated Lights-Out (iLO) and Remote Insight Lights-Out Edition (RILOE II).

Lights-Out management provides virtual on-site management capabilities. Rather than calling the remote site to have another person issue keyboard commands and listening to the other person describe the response from the server, you can view server operations and manage the server directly.

An Accredited Integration Specialist will have a fundamental understanding of the HP Lights-Out management technologies, when to recommend them, and how to implement them.
