Chapter Syllabus
This chapter provides an introduction to key server technologies that are explained in much more detail throughout the remainder of the book. After reading this chapter, you will be able to briefly explain the function of the following key server components and subsystems:
Understanding how server architecture subsystems work together enables you to select and configure a server to meet specific application needs and provide the highest performance. Building an HP server requires integrating system components into an architecture that meets specific server design requirements and provides the highest level of overall quality. HP designs each ProLiant server with a set of subsystems to create a balanced, high-performance, and cost-effective computer architecture. HP server architecture designs are rigorously tested throughout the design and manufacture process. This chapter provides an overview of the key components found in HP ProLiant servers, including system boards, processors, chipsets, buses (I/O interconnects), memory, storage components, power, and mechanical components (e.g., server and component chassis). |
