Epilogue

Jason never did get his PowerBook back. But General Cybernetics, an Alabama-based Apple reseller, read about his misfortune and donated a brand new iBook to Smith. By busting the con man, Jason also got his 15 minutes of fame. His exploits appeared in newspapers around the globe, and Connie Chung interviewed him on CNN during Christmas week, 2002. Ironically, Jason didn't own a TV set on which to watch it. So he watched his world premiere sitting on a barstool in a local pub. I can't make up my mind which movie Smith's story reminds me of more, The Sting or Rocky. I guess it's the eBay version of Rocky.
