Many people helped us write this book. First we would like to thank all the clients who have taught us so much and all the teams who have shared in the learning ”in particular, our team at Agile let us experiment on them and gave us so much feedback.

This is our first book, and we must thank our reviewers, Kent Beck, Frank Westphal, William Wake, Edward Hieatt, and Jessica Burdman for their help. Their input made us think about our assumptions and greatly strengthened the work. A special thank you goes to Chet Hendrickson, who not only reviewed the book but also was our original XP coach. Chet deserves much of the credit for the idea of adapting XP to Web projects.

If this book is readable, the credit must go to Pat Latham, who edited the first draft and did a great job of making three distinct voices sound like one.

Finally, thank you to our editor, Ross Venables, and all the people at Addison-Wesley who believed in the book and helped shepherd it from idea to completion.
