This book takes the view that at the center of the iTV framework is a receiver, which is essentially a computer, serving as the meeting point of various services. Content arrives at this receiver through either a unidirectional push broadcast channel, or a bidirectional pull interactive channel. Viewer commands are entered through a remote control, a keyboard, or other input devices, and fed into the receiver. These commands control the processing and presentation of content performed through display technologies. Accessories may be connected to this receiver utilizing it as a multimedia home gateway. |
