Files within iTV programs are organized in a broadcasted file system in the same way that files of a software application are organized on a computer file system. A Digital Storage Media Command and Control (DSM-CC) based file system such as the ATSC A95 Transport Stream File System (TSFS), enables pushing data files from the broadcaster to the receiver; here the use of an MPEG transport is assumed. This chapter is intended to serve as an introductory overview rather than as a complete reference. The content of this chapter was mostly extracted from A95, prepared by the author of this book and revised by Gomer Thomas of Triveni Digital. This chapter was designed to explicate the principles and issues related to both ATSC, DVB, and other DSM-CC object carousel based transports.
