Summary

This chapter offered a brief explanation of XSL Transformations, moving on rapidly to a description of PHP's XSLT support via its generic XSLT API. It demonstrated the standard process of performing XSLT transformations with PHP, explained the API's error-handling capabilities, and showed you how to use named buffers and parameters to add greater flexibility to the transformation process. Finally, it used three fairly complex examples to demonstrate the power inherent in the XSLT/PHP combination.

This chapter concludes our ongoing discussion of the different techniques of formatting and presenting XML markup. In the next chapter, I will move on to a discussion of using XML as the vehicle for data transmission and exchange over the web with Web Distributed Data Exchange (WDDX).
