Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)

A device used to protect computers and other electronic equipment from power loss, surges, spikes, and brownouts. A UPS uses batteries to ensure that a device can continue operating briefly during a power loss.



user profile

The file where the settings for a user's work environment are. This file is automatically created the first time a user logs on to a computer running any version of Windows, and any changes to the environment (Favorites, Start menu items, icons, colors, My Documents, local settings) are saved when the user logs off. The profile is reloaded when the user logs on again.



user rights

The actions that the user of a particular account is permitted to perform on a system.



user template

A preconfigured account that is saved with various characteristics. This account is copied whenever another user account with the same characteristics needs to be created.
