Chapter Summary

The integration of Exchange 2000 Server into a NetWare-based environment introduces several tasks to provide NetWare users with access to mailboxes in Outlook 2000. On the client machines, this includes the installation of the Client for Microsoft Networks, which is required to support RPC communication. On the server, you need to install NWLink if your NetWare workstations are not configured for TCP/IP.

Several Windows 2000 components are available to provide advanced services to your users. You can install GSNW, for instance, to give native Microsoft workstations the option to work with NetWare resources. You can install FPNW to present the computer running Windows 2000 Server as a NetWare-like server to Novell users. Account synchronization between Active Directory and NDS is possible via MSDSS. Synchronized accounts greatly facilitate the work in a heterogeneous NetWare and Windows 2000 environment through the automatic logon feature.
