People can be experts using Microsoft Word or any other application, but that does not mean that they know what to do when something goes wrong. Having this troubleshooting information is very useful, especially if Word were to suddenly start crashing on you in the middle of trying to meet a deadline.
You may have an IT department or specialist where you work. Prior to performing any troubleshooting steps in any application or on your hard drive, you should get their permission! They may know of settings on the computers that could make the following instructions have catastrophic effects on the operation of your PC.
