Sync your Safari Bookmarks

In order to use .Mac Bookmarks, you need to sync your existing Safari bookmarks to your .Mac account. Before you do this, it might be helpful to do a little bit of housekeeping and organization of your bookmarks. It's not absolutely necessarybut now's a good time to throw out bookmarks that you never use or that are outdated and don't link to anything. You should also organize the bookmarks into folders so it's easy to find them. Because some web pages are difficult to categorize, you might want to create some generic folders that have names such as "Favs," "Work," or even "Organize Later." The less messy your bookmark organization is, the easier it is to find the bookmark you want.

Sync your bookmarks with .Mac

1.	Turn on .Mac synchronzation in iSync: open System Preferences and click the .Mac icon. In the .Mac preferences window (below) sign in with your .Mac member name and password.
2.	Click the "Sync" tab to open the Sync pane shown below.
3.	Click the "Synchronize with .Mac" checkbox. From the pop-up menu choose to sync manually (whenever you want), hourly, daily, etc.
4.	Click the "Advanced" tab to open the Advanced pane (below) and register your computer with the .Mac synchronization server. Select your computer in the list, then click the "Register this Computer" button. If the selected computer is already registered, the button says "Unregister."
5.	In the Sync pane (below), click the "Bookmarks" checkbox (and any of the other items you want to sync with .Mac's server.
6.	Click the "Sync Now" button. All of your Safari bookmarks are copied to the .Mac server.
7.	Go to the .Mac web site to access your .Mac bookmarks (next page).

Click the "Show status in menu bar" checkbox to put the iSync pop-up menu in the menu bar, as shown on the right.

If the iSync status menu is in your menu bar, you can open .Mac Sync Preferences from its pop-up menu.
