iDisk Storage Settings

A .Mac account includes combined email and iDisk storage of 250 MB on Apple's servers. The total amount of storage is automatically divided evenly between email and iDisk when you start your account, but you can change that ratio if you need more email storage or more iDisk storage. To set this and other .Mac settings, open .Mac Preferences.

To change your iDisk storage settings

1.

Open System Preferences and click the .Mac icon.

The .Mac icon in System Preferences.

2.

In the .Mac pane of System Preferences (shown below), click the "Sign In" tab. If you're already a .Mac member, type in your member name and password. If you want to become a member or just learn more about .Mac membership, click the "Learn More" button.

If you've previously entered a member name and password, the "Sign In" button says "Account." Skip to Step 3.

3.

After you sign in, the "Sign In" tab turns into the "Account" tab and the window displays the Account pane. Click the "Account Info" button to open a .Mac web page that contains your account info.

4.

On the "Account Settings" web page, click the "Storage Settings" button (below) to show the storage management tools.

5.

The graph below shows the distribution of your .Mac account storage space divided between email storage and iDisk storage. If you want to change the 5050 default setting (below-left), choose a different ratio from the pop-up menu, as shown on the right, then click "Save."
