Chapter 14: Case Study Part 2: Identifying Your Users

Overview

In this chapter, we're going to create a tour diary for our Cornflakes at Midnight application. This is where band members create entries much like the guest book entries you saw in the previous chapter. They can talk about how the tour is going, harass the other members publicly, and just generally talk about whatever comes to mind that they think their fans would be interested in knowing.

Here's a specific list of what we're going to provide with the tour diary:

  • The band members will be able to log on securely to the diary.

  • They will be able to create entries with a subject line, and the message text itself. The name will be set to the same value as their logon name.

  • Each entry will be logged with the date and time when it was created.

  • The list of entries can be sorted by the username, subject, and posted date.

  • The message will have the same formatting as the guest book.
