This chapter covers the following topics:
The Cisco Security Agent (CSA) product contains many components that enable you to granularly control your infrastructure. The application of these control mechanisms along with the deployment and tuning of the product might seem overwhelming to a security administrator who does not completely understand how to best use the product. As an analogy, consider the various workers used to construct a home. Although individual craftsmen must understand their part of the construction, whether it be a plumber s pipes or a roofer s shingles, the foreman and contractor are the individuals who must guarantee the completeness of the end product as well as the ability of the final product to stand the test of time without burdening the owner. The security administrators tasked with the development, deployment, and continued management of a CSA investment must think of themselves much like the contractor using all the various tools at his disposal to build a safe, secure, and manageable deployment. The majority of this book has focused on the granular components and their associated configuration details. This chapter examines how these tools come together to create a CSA project implementation plan to secure your environment, provide useful reports, and continue to function within manageable limits. |
