This chapter looks at how you can use PHP with COM and also how to use PHP with Microsoft .NET. We will cover what COM is, how COM developed, how to create COM components with Visual Basic (VB), and how to use them from PHP. We also will look at what Microsoft .NET is, how it developed, how to develop .NET components in Visual Basic .NET, and how to use them from PHP.

The PHP COM functions were developed by Zeev Suraski and Harald Radi.
