You now have a general idea of how to operate a shopping cart. This type of cart might work for a simple order variable that you are able to move back and forth just between the cart and the order page. But passing the variable around an entire site would not make much sense. For that, you'd want to have the cart stored in either a session variable or a client variable, as discussed above.

And of course, there are several issues you would still need to address. What if a user wanted more than one of a specific item, or what if they wanted to remove an item? These are question you yourself will be able to answer as you continue on your ColdFusion journey.
