Part Overview

When we work with prospects considering a Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 purchase, we hear lots of stories about complex business rules and sophisticated programming requirements. Usually at least one time in the sales process the prospect will ask a question along the lines of "Is this even possible to program in Microsoft CRM?" That's when big smiles cross our faces as we say "Of course!" This isn't just tough talk to win a deal, we mean it when we say that you can program almost anything with Microsoft CRM.

Part III of the book goes into the details of how you can use the Microsoft CRM Software Development Kit (SDK) to create your own custom code. By working within the SDK framework, your custom solutions stand a very good chance of upgrading smoothly when Microsoft releases new versions and updates of Microsoft CRM. The Microsoft CRM SDK opens all sorts of programming interfaces into the software, so any experienced Web developer can be up and running with custom solutions in very little time. The last chapter in this part will also show you how to integrate Microsoft CRM with SharePoint Products and Technologies.

We printed all of the examples in this part of the book so that you can download the sample code and deploy the software to your organization if you wish. The Introduction explains how you can download the sample code off of the companion Web site.
