Summary

You began with the concepts of a transaction its architecture and various components that take part in the global transaction. You saw the life cycle of a transaction. You also learned about the ACID properties of a transaction. You then learned about the components of transaction architecture, which consists of a transaction manager, a resource manager, and the client application.

The JTA API followed this discussion. You discovered the important interfaces and classes and their methods. You also learned about the attributes of transactions.

You then moved on to learning WebLogic-specific JTA features. You saw this in a container-managed scenario and in a bean-managed scenario. You covered the fine points of the WebLogic API extending the JTA API. You saw the important classes and interfaces and the methods of this API.

Finally, you learned the steps for developing a bean-managed and container-managed transaction application, and you implemented the same in your Restaurant example.

Tomorrow you will study an entirely new technology supported by the WebLogic Server the Java Message Service API.
