Transferring Pictures from a Memory Card Reader

Copying digital pictures via USB can be a trifle slow. For many users, a faster and easier method is to use a memory card reader. A memory card reader is a low-cost external peripheral that connects to a USB port on your PC. You then insert the memory card from your digital camera into the memory card reader, and your PC recognizes the card as if it were another hard disk. You can then use either the Scanner and Camera Wizard or My Computer to transfer the digital photo files from the memory card to your PC's hard disk.

Many color photo printers include memory card slots that let you print directly from your camera's memory card, bypassing your computer entirely.
