Microsoft® SharePoint^™ Portal Server 2001 extends Web discussions, a feature of Microsoft Office. Web discussions allow any user who has Read access to a document to read and create comments (discussion items) that are related to the specific document without having to modify the document. To implement Web discussions successfully, you must consider the interactions among Office, your existing Web browser, and SharePoint Portal Server. When you deploy Web discussions, you must address certain incompatibilities to achieve flexibility in various customer scenarios.
