Five different delivery models cover most of the location-based services delivery infrastructure needs as we understand them in these early days of the wireless Internet. The delineation of a few standard models based on scalable computing platforms and universally accepted Internet standards such as HTTP, SMTP, TCP/IP, SOAP, and XML provide a reasonably clear starting point for the development of navigation service delivery systems for the location-based services that are anticipated by many in the wireless carrier and mobile applications community.
