Chapter 13. Real World Web Service Application Development-Advanced Technologies

Chapter 13. Real World Web Service Application Development Advanced Technologies

In the previous chapter, we developed a Web services-based application from the ground up using fundamental Web services technologies like SOAP and WSDL. However, the exchange of messages between businesses is only the tip of the iceberg as far as enterprise computing is concerned. To enable true enterprise-level computing with Web services, we must address the non-functional requirements, which enable dependable applications to be built. In this chapter we address those requirements by adding security, transactionality, configurability, and mobility into our basic architecture to develop a full enterprise class application out of the basic enterprise procurement system.
