Flash Boxes

Flash boxes are fairly new to Windows, so they aren't used often. A good example is the flash box shown when Microsoft Outlook shuts down.

Flash boxes are an ideal way to eliminate many notifications. They provide the user with obvious feedback but don't require any acknowledgement. This makes them ideal for feedback that isn't essential for the user to know. Of course, flash boxes are most effective when their text is short and easy to read.

TIP
Consider using flash boxes to provide feedback that isn't essential for the user to know.
