Testing Your Plan

Once you’ve devised your plan, it’s time to test it. Now, you don’t need to create a disaster to do this. While it’s not necessary to test absolutely everything about your plan, you should drill yourself on important factors so that they stick in your mind. Practice locating the components you need and always make sure they are located within easy access of your PC work area.

As part of the testing process, be sure you cover the following:

• Make certain your PC Recovery Resource Kit is in place and has all the information you need.

• Check the date of your last backups and/or drive image; if they aren’t recent, update them immediately.

• Review instructions for recovering backups and drive images.

• Update your plan to reflect any changes to your current setup, what you might need and what services are available to you in a crisis period.
