Grouping data organizes it for human consumption. We understand data better in smaller chunks. Crystal Reports can group data on fields, on formulas, and hierarchically. Summarization methods built into Crystal include grand totals and grouping summaries with a wide range of operations that can be applied to the data. Operations include summing, counting, and taking the top five or so values. These summaries can be easily added to a report. When a simple summarization won’t work for you, you can write your own running total for more complex and conditional summarization. In addition to summarizing data, subreports provide a powerful way to synthesize information by combining data that might normally be in two separate reports and that can be linked in a single report.
