Color Plate 8-1

The composition at the top of the page was created using four images copied to separate layers. First, the Watercolor filter was applied to the turtle layer. Next, the Ink Outlines filter was applied to the Buddha layer, opacity was set to 65%; a layer mask was created and a gradient was used to fade out the layer. The Pin Light blending mode was applied to the people layer and a layer mask was used to hide the portion of the layer that covered the turtle. Finally, the Dark Strokes and Lighting Effects filters were applied to the goddess layer, and opacity was set to 43%.
