In addition to collaborative and management/monitoring applications based on Exchange, several technologies and interfaces are related to Exchange development but not a part of the SDK. For working with the Active Directory, the Active Directory Services Interface (ADSI) that is provided with Exchange 2003 is the same as in previous versions. Likewise, the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) interface is the same; therefore, employee directories, name lookup, and other applications created using this technology should be able to be ported to Exchange Server 2003 with little or no trouble. Related to Exchange but not necessarily a part of Exchange Server 2003, Outlook 2003 provides a rich object model of its own to help developers create applications based on Outlook 2003. You can find more information about building applications based on Outlook from http://msdn.microsoft.com/office. |
