Why Use Sticky Notes?

Sticky notes are often used to keep notes handy, when notes are not part of a longer document, and when they are of short-term use. You will usually not use your Tablet PC's Sticky Notes feature to store information that you want to have access to long term. Using sticky notes for items such as contact information, addresses, telephone numbers, and other data that you may want to have access to later is not a good idea.

Although it's nice to be able to take some quick notes and have ready access to them, Sticky Notes does not allow you the flexibility of multiple notes displayed at one time on the desktop, like some other "sticky note" applications (just search for "sticky" at www.download.com). You can, however, use the Sticky Notes feature to place a stack of sticky notes on your desktop.

Sticky Notes is fine for quick notes that you will move to other applications or discard later, but you may want to limit your use of them because they are not easily managed.

In addition, you can copy notes to other applications, like Word, as well as import notes from other locations. If saving notes like this seems to you to be a great way to lose your mind, or if you want to store something for longer than a week or so, use a planner like TabletPlanner or Outlook so that you can easily find what you're looking for.
