Windows XP Tablet PC Edition Configuration

The following items will help you customize some of the basic aspects of your Tablet PC for optimum use.

Change Handedness

Click on Start, Control Panel and select Tablet and Pen Settings. You can change handedness settings in the Settings tab.

Calibration

To calibrate your Tablet PC, click on Start, Control Panel, and select Tablet and Pen Settings. Then click on the Calibrate button for both the landscape and the portrait orientations.

Switching Between Portrait and Landscape

Under the Display tab on the Tablet and Pen Settings dialog box (Start, Control Panel, Tablet and Pen Settings), you can adjust the screen orientation and set the sequence that Windows uses when you change screen orientations.

Pen Options

The Pen Options tab is on the Tablet and Pen Settings dialog box (Start, Control Panel, Tablet and Pen Settings). With this dialog box, you can adjust the behaviors of your pen.

Start Menu Settings

If you right-click the Start button then choose Properties, you will see a dialog box that enables you to change the way the Start menu looks. You can choose between Start menu (Windows XP style) and Classic Start menu (Windows 2000/9.x style). For each option, there is a Customize button for changing basic settings, such as icon size and menu contents.

Taskbar Settings

On the same dialog box as the Start menu settings is a Taskbar tab. This lets you set taskbar properties such as showing the clock in the System tray and auto-hiding the taskbar to free up a bit more screen real estate.

Display Settings

The Settings tab on the Display dialog box (Start, Control Panel, Display) enables you to change the resolution and color depth of your display. Changing your screen resolution changes your screen real estate. The larger the numbers, the more information you will be able to see on the screen at once.
