Hide or Display a Toolbar


Toolbars contain buttons that help you select commands quickly. You can hide or display toolbars whenever you want.

The Standard and Formatting toolbars appear by default. Many other toolbars appear automatically when you start a particular task.

  1. Click View.

  2. Click Toolbars.

    A list of toolbars appears.

    If a toolbar is currently active, it has a check mark (image from book) beside its name.

  3. Click the toolbar you want to display or hide.

    You can skip steps 1 to 2 and right-click any displayed toolbar to view the list of toolbars.

    image from book Word automatically parks some toolbars at the top of the screen while floating other ones.

    You can park a floating toolbar on any edge of the screen by dragging it.
