David Chappell is principal of Chappell & Associates (www.davidchappell.com) in San Francisco, California. Through his keynotes, seminars, writing, and consulting, David helps information technology professionals around the world understand, use, market, and make better decisions about enterprise software technologies.

David has been the keynote speaker for conferences in the United States, Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East, and he's also delivered keynote addresses at many in-house events. His popular seminars have been attended by tens of thousands of developers and decision makers in more than two dozen countries, and his appearances have been covered in print and online publications in the United States, England, Israel, China, India, and other countries. David's books on enterprise software technologies have been translated into ten languages and are used in courses at MIT, ETH Zurich, and other schools. He is series editor for Addison-Wesley's Independent Technology Guides, and more than 100 of David's articles have appeared in various publications.

David also consults with a diverse group of companies each year, with Compaq, Microsoft, and Stanford University among his recent clients. His projects have included writing the standard technical presentation on a new technology for a software vendor's field organization, creating new product training material for an enterprise sales force, working with a software services firm to define a new practice area, and helping a software start-up create its marketing strategy.

David holds a B.S. in economics and an M.S. in computer science, both from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has also participated in executive education at the Wharton School of Business.
