About the Authors

David H. Johnson has over 20 years' experience teaching most aspects of the computer science curriculum. His approach to the software design course has evolved over the years to the point where XP is emphasized. This includes having students use the XP approach in their semester-long projects. His enthusiasm for XP has only been increased by adapting it to the learning environment. He says it makes the entire development process, problems and solutions, clearer for students. He can be reached at David.Johnson@valpo.edu.

James Caristi has published research in computer simulation, expert systems, and theoretical mathematics. In 1990 he received the Sears-Roebuck Foundation Teaching Excellence and Campus Leadership Award, and in 1999 he received the Distinguished Teaching Award of the Indiana Section of the Mathematical Association of America. He has been involved in many software consulting projects and worked with X-ray astrophysicists at NASA on improved X-ray detectors and parallelizing simulations. Jim has been converted to the cause of agile methods, especially XP. He can be reached at James.Caristi@valpo.edu.
