You can use iChat to talk to your friends, family, and coworkers. Connect a microphone and a camera to have your iChat buddies see and hear you. Many cameras, such as Apple’s iSight, have built-in microphones, so you have to connect only a camera. If you do not have a camera but you do have a microphone, you can chat with audio only. If your buddies have neither a camera nor a microphone, they can still see and hear you, even if you cannot see and hear them.

Did You Know?

The iChat application is compatible with AOL Instant Messenger and uses its network for communication, but it can also function on its own without the AOL network. Using Rendezvous, you can connect and talk to people on your local network without ever logging in to AOL’s network.
