Moving to Application Services

The road to SOAI is not an easy one, but it may yet be the best route to a solution or to the integration of all applications through the reuse of common application services. Most problem domains that require application integration will likely opt for the other approaches to application integration before attempting SOAI. The former types are easier to deploy and carry less risk. However, "no guts, no glory." Depending on the requirements of the problem domain, the service-level approach, for all its difficulties, could very well turn out to be the "best" solution for the application integration problem. I'm certain it will grow in use as we evolve.
