Wrapping Data in a Cell

After you select the cell or cells whose text you want to wrap, open the Format menu and select Cells.

On the Alignment tab of the Format Cells dialog box, select the Wrap Text check box in the Text Control area.

Click OK.

The data in the selected cells is automatically wrapped. (You might need to adjust the column width, as in the previous task.)

INTRODUCTION

Excel provides several ways to format data. One way is to allow text to wrap in a cell. For example, suppose a heading (row or column, for example) is longer than the width of the cell holding the data. If you are trying to make your worksheet organized and readable, you should wrap the text in the heading so it is completely visible in a cell.

Aligning Wrapped Text

You can align data that has been wrapped to give your text a cleaner look. See p. 180 and p. 181 later in this part to learn how to align data in cells.
