D.4. THE MPC COMPILER

D.3. SUPPORTED SYSTEMS

The components of the mpC programming environment have been written so as to avoid problems with its installation on any Unix system that has a C compiler supporting ANSI C. It has been successfully installed on many Unix platforms including:

  • Sun workstations running Solaris 2.3, 2.4, 2.5, 2.6 or SunOS 4.1 with gcc versions 2.6.3, 2.7.0, 2.7.2, 2.8.1 and SPARCworks Professional C 3.01;

  • HP9000 workstations running HP-UX 9.07 with gcc version 2.7.2 or c89, or running HP-UX 10.20 with gcc version 2.8.1;

  • DEC Alpha running OSF/1 V3.2 with gcc version 2.7.2;

  • PC running Red Hat Linux 4.0, 5.2 with gcc versions 2.7.2 and 2.8.1;

  • PC running FreeBSD 3.0, 3.4 with gcc version 2.7.2.

The mpC compiler has been written so as to avoid problems with compilation of the generated code on any Unix system that has a C compiler supporting ANSI C.

RTS has been written so as to ensure its correct working for any implementation of MPI supporting full MPI 1.1 standard as an underlying communication platform. Two main free implementations of MPI, LAM MPI and MPICH, have been the most intensively tested.

The basic version of the command-line user interface has been written so as to work correctly for two implementations of MPI—LAM MPI and MPICH.
