Installing & Uninstalling Widgets

You can customize Dashboard by adding or removing widgets.

Additional widgets are available on Apple's Dashboard Web site, http://dashboard.apple.com. You may also be able to find widgets on shareware distribution Web sites and on Web sites for third-party vendors.

In many instances, the widget will come with its own installer, so all you have to do to install it is open the installer file. If the widget did not come with an installer, you can install it by dragging its widget filewhich may display the .wdgt file extension file into the Widgets folder in the Library folder on your hard disk (Figure 48). You should then be able to find the newly installed widget on the Widget Bar.

Uninstalling a widget is also simple. Just drag the widget out of the Widgets folder (Figure 48). The widget should not appear on the Widget Bar the next time you display it.
