“You didn’t say the magic word.”
—Bill Murray, actor, in Ghostbusters
As the boss, what you say goes. But it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t express it politely.
In our travels, we are surprised how often common courtesies have been abandoned in favor of barking orders and giving curt nods.
“Please” and “thank you” are the most basic forms of recognition. They communicate mutual respect and regard, which, in turn, inspires employee loyalty.
Make it a habit to use these two magic words on all occasions with your staff.
