At this point, I would like to do three things. First, I want to highlight and elaborate on some key points that have been made in the previous chapters so that you keep them very much in your mind as you read on. Second, I need to talk about some things that are common to each of the development and implementation life cycle stages we will be discussing. Finally, I need to set up a fictitious organization to which I can relate elements of the lifecycle model. This fictitious organization will be as generalized as I can make it but you will, of course, have to map elements of it to your own organizational structure.

Once we have looked at these items we can go on to discuss the activities and tasks that need to be carried out during this Requirements Definition stage of the development and implementation lifecycle.
