Dealing with the Crisis' PlayersIn instances in which the crisis has already occurred and is about to impact the organization's key stakeholders, a strategy is needed to minimize the disruption and financial damage. Developing such a strategy can be cumbersome and can require a tremendous amount of time and preparation. Nonetheless, this ounce of prevention will be well worth it when the crisis hits. The strategy must involve identifying those functions and processes that are critical to the business. From here, it is necessary to design the operational and communications contingency plans to deal with the potential failure of one or more of the affected functions and processes. Simultaneously, consideration must be given to how key stakeholders will react when they find out that a crisis exists. Organizations with business continuity plans for responding to crises will be better positioned to minimize the inevitable business impact and financial damage. |
