Specification Requirements

During the initial phases of the project, Simpleton stressed several concerns for both the server and client sides of the application. FlashFusion has assured Simpleton that these requirements have been met and has put together two tables outlining these details (Tables III-4.1 and III-4.2).

Table III-4.1. Server-side requirements
Description Yes No
Runs on Linux OS x
Integrates with Simpleton's mail server x
Use existing email accounts for clients x
Affordable server software x

Table III-4.2. Client-side requirements
Description Yes No
Accessible through most Web browsers x
Ability to port to Web-enabled devices such as PDAs and smart phones (coming soon) x
Not dependent on different resolutions; can scale accordingly x
Download quickly with minimal waiting time x
Leverage code and components used in this application for future projects x
User-friendly with an intuitive graphical interface x
Manage emails by sorting them into different folders x
Save user's log-in information to local machine for future log-ins x
Basic email functionality (send, receive, reply, forward, and delete email messages) x

Overall, Simpleton is extremely pleased with these results. There is no immediate need for porting the application to handheld devices. Yet FlashFusion has assured Simpleton that the Flash 6 Player will probably be available later this year. Simpleton drafted the following memo to FlashFusion after the demonstration.

With Simpleton's approval, FlashFusion will now begin taking the necessary steps to get ready to move the application to a production server. This shouldn't take long, since the ColdFusion MX install is really all that is needed. FlashFusion assures Simpleton that the application will be deployed by the end of the week.
