What Is a Custom Tag?

ColdFusion comes with a great number of useful tags. Using them in combination lets you create powerful Web applications. ColdFusion Custom Tags take your productivity even further by allowing you to create your own reusable, modular, and maintainable tags.

At their simplest, Custom Tags are just regular ColdFusion templates acting like little self-contained programs that perform tasks. You can think of them as extensions of regular ColdFusion tags and functions, except that you get to code them to do whatever you want!
