OneNote: Future Plans

This is the first version of Microsoft OneNote that's been released. OneNote is a unique type of program. Before the release of OneNote and the Windows Journal application for the Tablet PC, there really were not any good Microsoft options for note-taking programs. Note takers were limited to Microsoft Word, WordPad, NotePad, or a Pocket PC device with a variety of programs (such as Pocket Word or Notes). There were a handful of other third-party note-taking applications on the market, but none that utilized the Tablet PC's inking capabilities as well as OneNote. OneNote and the Windows Journal application changed the face of note taking. The Windows Journal was the first of these new types of note-taking applications, but OneNote improved upon the capabilities of the Windows Journal by adding rich multimedia capabilities and offering the possibility for some basic integration with other Office applications.

For the first time, users could integrate handwriting, drawing, audio, video, and online content. With OneNote, users can create detailed multilevel outlines, add pictures, and content from Web pages, and more.
