By default the text in all paragraphs, lists, and other block elements aligns horizontally to the left, as do images. You can alter that value by placing your cursor into a block and using the Alignment buttons on the Property inspector, or by choosing Text ® Align. The options are Left, Center, and Right.
Tip | To align all the text in the entire page of paragraphs and other block elements, choose the <body> tag; then click the desired alignment icon. |
Habitat Alert site To wrap the text in a paragraph around an image inside the same block follow these steps:
In the mission_statement.htm file, select the Mission Statement image.
Click the arrow for the Align menu and click Right. Table 33-2 shows the results of each align option.
The Align menu floats the selected image, adjusting the remaining content to the selected image, and places an align="value" inside the <img> tag.
Menu Option | Result |
---|---|
Default (Baseline) | Aligns the bottom of the image to the baseline of the current line of text or the bottom of any other image in the block. |
Baseline | See previous entry. |
Top | The top of the image is aligned with the top of the tallest object in the current line, whether text or image. |
Middle | The middle of the image is aligned with the current line and any other text is pushed below the image. |
Bottom | Same as Baseline. |
Text Top | The top of the image is aligned with the tallest character in the current line. |
Absolute Middle | The middle of the image is aligned with the middle of the text or object in the current line. |
Absolute Bottom | The bottom of the image is aligned with the descenders that fall below the current line. |
Left | The image is aligned to the left edge of the current block and aligned to the top of the current line. All remaining text flows along the right side of the image and wraps below the image. |
Right | The same as Left, except the image floats to the right edge of the block and content flows along the left side of the image. |
Cross-Reference | See Chapter 34 to understand how to create more complex image and text layouts. Using the Align menu to float an image may not offer a solution for the layout you desire. |
