Fireworks Commands

 < Day Day Up >

Commands are recordings of what you do in your canvas. These actions or steps are recorded in the History panel, which is in the Assets panel group. To make your own commands, follow these steps:

  1. Perform the steps involved in a task that you think you might want to repeat again in another document or to another object.

  2. Open the History panel.

  3. Select the last step in the History list. (This step contains all the previous ones.)

  4. Click the down arrow to access the History options pop-up menu, choose Save as Command, and name your new command.

Note

Sometimes the last step in the History doesn't work as a command. If you save as a command and it doesn't work, try again by Shift+selecting all the steps and saving again. Be sure to test your command.

That is all there is to making a simple command in Fireworks. The History panel shows the steps or actions you've taken; if anything is below the line in the History panel it probably will not record properly. You may need to repeat some steps or perform an action in a different way to be able to record it and save it as a command. Commands can include other commands. For instance, you can run a command, perform a few more actions, and save all the steps, including running the command, as a new command.
