Overview

Process Integration enables companies to connect people, process, and applications across and beyond their enterprise. These solutions make it possible to leverage existing IT investments while providing the flexibility to adapt quickly to changing business conditions and emerging technologies.

This chapter introduces fundamental concepts in integrating people, process, and applications. It proposes a set of notations and a new technique for decomposing complex integration scenarios into simpler portions that can be solved by applying the fundamental concepts of integration. It also discusses Quality of Service (QoS) capabilities that must be considered in integration scenarios.
