This one time, at Pan camp... I learned a little trick to help with certain panning issues. Every now and then, when you're editing a symbol directly without using Edit in Place, you may find that your artwork is so large that you are unable to get the Stage to scroll to view it all. Even if you try to pan to the end, you simply cannot.
Let's just chalk this up to one of those quirky issues in Flash that we love so much. To get around it, you can go to the parent timeline of the symbol you're having trouble with and double-click the instance of the symbol. This will edit that symbol in place, and for some reason, you'll be able to scroll and pan far enough to see the whole thing. Wow, dat's veird!
