Flashenate the Image

[ LiB ]

Do you like the word I made up? "Image." Yeah, I have hundreds of them. When you Flashenate an image, you're actually converting it from raster to vector artwork. Many programs do this, but Flash does it so well, there's almost no need to use any of the others.

Select any bitmap image on the Stage and go to Modify > Bitmap > Trace Bitmap. If you set the options here higher, you'll get vector art that is more like the original image, where lower settings create more distortion. The advantage to low settings is that it saves file size and converts quickly. You can leave the settings alone and click OK to see the effect.

I often Trace Bitmaps to create stylized graphics or to reduce file size when there are a lot of images. The only problem is that tracing a very complex vector image can actually increase the file size, so be careful and test each option to find what's right for you.
